eyApril Philippines Inc. (HAPI) is looking for US Tax Accounting Professionals who will be building and maintaining relationships while working collaboratively not just with his or her team members but the same is expected to clients that are assigned to the successful hire.


Depending on the position level, responsibilities may include attending or initiating training requests for continuous technical development in US taxation which will ensure that the tax accountant is well equipped in the hands-on professional development of himself or herself or that of his or her team members while the successful hire develops or shares learnt knowledge and best practices.


The Tax Accountant is responsible for all tax related requirements of the clients which includes tax returns and documents archiving as well as tax calendar activities scheduling and planning.


MAIN DUTIES

Tax Operations

  • Perform various US tax compliance functions by timely reviewing, closing of major open items and submitting tax returns, including but not limited to income tax, franchise tax, sales and use tax, information returns, business renewals, annual reports, R&D Tax Credit, Foreign disclosure forms, track shareholder basis, power of attorney and other tax documents as requested by clients
  • Conduct research and develop a solid functional understanding on various tax laws and regulations, and stay up-to-date with changes in the tax landscape.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as admin and accounting, to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance.
  • Manage and review financials received from the client or from the accounting team to ensure tax implications are being considered to make necessary advice to the client
  • Correspond with state and local tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and notices.
  • Facilitate tax planning and assisting with special studies to determine tax implications of company operations.
  • Lead, maintain and update tax records, documents, and files in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Thoroughly analyse tax issues and propose effective solutions to superior.
  • Adhere to the tax preparer code of ethics and best practices.

Client Management

  • Correspond directly with clients via various communication channels such as email or other platforms as agreed with the client.
  • Facilitate and assist client in researching sales tax issues, tax audit assessments, compliances and new business initiatives tax implications
  • Assist in providing tax advisory services to clients and offer technical expertise on complex tax issues.

Overall Business Operations

  • Prepare and document corresponding task list, policies, and standard/key operating procedures.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the superior and management as requested.
  • Adhere to the accounting policies and procedures
  • Support accounting team during month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Overseeing engagements and resolving most accounting issues that arise during the tax engagement.

Process Improvement and Execution

  • Identify and implement internal process reengineering and improvement.
  • Proactively test and recommend software to improve the tax process.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement using current and available tools and technologies.
  • Lead the process development for the organisation.

People Development and Management (for senior level and up)

  • Participate in hiring of entry level and experienced staff.
  • Train and supervise Tax Accountants level 1,2 and 3 that will lead them to be independent at work by creating and improving the training materials

REQUIREMENTS

  • For senior level, at least 5 years solid experience in US tax or a total of 7 years overall local + US tax experience
  • For junior levels, those with US tax experience or with at least 2 years experience in other country's taxation rules.
  • With a degree in accounting or other related course
  • For senior level, proven team management experience is required
  • Tech savvy with capability to learn various systems and tools. With working knowledge of Google systems, Microsoft Office such as PowerPoint and Excel.
